I am going with MysticBBS (mysticbbs.com) as it is worked on consistently and runs on arm6. I am kind of torn on what to run it on, the retro hardware side of me want to run it on a pentium 133 with 16megs I have laying around with opendos for an OS. The sensical side is shooting for a raspiB. The nice thing about mystic is you can develop it on anything and just move the files to any platform.
Anybody good at ascii art? Want to make a banner and menu graphics?
edit: Got mystic up and running with basic messaging and login capabilities on telnet port 1488.... heh. Going to work on getting some door games going through the compatibility layer it has for old dos doors. Really nice piece of software all in all, the feature list is kind of staggering for a BBS program. Has web, ftp, email etc etc. you can enable. Going to keep it classic. Also check this (picascii.com) out for converting pics to ascii. Lost a beer and then opened two so it is time to go to sleep.
