As self driving cars become more and more capable I wonder what that will do to the "death stats" of flying vs driving in a self-driving car?

I just fucking hate the way the media has to blow everything so far out of proportion.

I did the math on the rate of decent and it works out to about 29 MPH vertical drop. Whereas a skydiver in free fall is doing about 120 MPH vertical drop.

I'm sure the turbulence and the masks falling were nerve wracking for some of the passengers, maybe even scary. But DEATH PLUNGE??? Shut the fuck up.

Edit: I just watched the video. Everyone is perfectly calm. Old lady smiling and waving at the camera. What a bunch of bullshit. The whole story is bullshit.

Going from 30,000 feet to 10,000 feet in 10 minutes isn't exactly a plunge. Going from 30,000 to 10,000 in 2 minutes is a plunge~~~~

Yea!!! That might even make me nervous, pretty near free fall speed at that rate.
