It isn't stated why the pilot had to go around and it is more likely the fault of the tower than her, but sadly anytime something happens we now have to question.

The tower probably told the incoming to land on 24R, not bothering to look out the window and see the plane on 24R that they just told to take off.

Yes…except…

“Our pilot handled it really well. You know, she obviously got the plane to a safe place and got us back down on the ground just fine

Alternate scenario:

Tower: land on 06R

Pilot: mmm hmmm

tower: can you confirm?

pilot: don’t mansplain what runway to me. I already did

tower: pilot, I need confirmation of runway 06R

Pilot: you’re not listening to me. I already told you I heard you, and this is unacceptable harassment. You wouldn’t be badgering me if I were a man. I went to pilot school you dumb tower jockey, which means I am a lot more capable of getting those plane where it needs to go

I’d like to know how it happened,

Ummm.... everything is perfectly normal.

and who messed up.

It was safe and effective.

That seems like that shouldn’t happen at all.

Stop noticing or you will be arrested for terrorism and put on the no fly list.

I've had two or three go arounds in my business air travels

Normally this is weather related. For example, wind direction changes. But ground traffic can also cause issues. Tower or ground screwups can also contribute.

When not the above, go arounds are almost always pilot skill deficiencies or distraction within the cockpit.

That's a controller error but there's been a huge push for 'diversity' hires for that position so that makes sense

33+ years of commercial flying (both seats) and hubby has had 1 go around.
