We'll likely never know what happened. But several angles look like the Mustang pilot failed everyone. How terrible. All of these aircraft are quickly disappearing from the planet. Not too many left. And even fewer are still flying. Especially as Mustangs have become popular for air racing.

I’m sure they have the schematics, but I doubt regulations would allow for saving history.
