I always wear my bell bottoms in case of a flood so I can tie them into a life preserver. We haven't had a flood here in over a century, but it's always good to be prepared.

Except you are in more danger driving to and from the airport than actually flying on a plane.

I'll summarize it,

  1. Keep your shoes on and be ready to get out while on the ground at anytime.
  2. Depressurization can incapacitate you in 15-45 seconds so get O2 quick or die.

Most everything else like picking seats, is bullshit and subjective to a single type of crash.
