Just replaced power steering in the ford truck, valve cover gasket, intake and exhaust gaskets (cause you have to pull intake off) both radiator hoses and thermostat plus some sensors. Drove to work and when leaving temp gauge maxed. Turned heater on and temp went down. Went back to work opened hood antifreeze all over the place. Reservoir cap had come off. Hoping its a faulty thermostat.

Damn jeep is chirping so it is apart, replaced both tension pulleys and now the fucking power steering pump on it needs replacing also.

Now I upkeep these old vehicles religiously. Jeep also needs high pressure line.

FML, Im driving a work truck now.

I drive old stuff, expect it generally but I probably upkeep way more than normal. Shit happens.

Hopefully the work truck doesn't break down next. I wish you the best of luck getting it sorted out. It can't rain forever.

Watch a channel on YT, “m539 restorations” https://yewtu.be/channel/UCLLpxcworT8275nBXODXyqw . He does only bmws, but he’s in Germany. Does all sorts of preventative maintenance that applies to all cars, easy to watch videos.

Dude, Im the king of preventative maintenance. Shit happens.

Definitely check your pcv valve. A plugged valve will blow out your valve cover gasket. I just replace them when I'm there since it's less than $10 usually, but you should check it at a minimum. I also always go with oem parts. The aftermarket has really gone to shit since covid. I always use my lisle radiator funnel to get air out of the system. It's worth the few extra bucks and it also makes for a cleaner job.
