She's almost as old as I am.
is so pretty be a shame to drive it!!!!
I'd not own anything that I wouldn't drive. On top of that, cars don't do very well if they're left sitting for a long time. You can drain the fluids after running new oil through and they'll hold up for a while, but they really should be exercised. Even the tires should be used, as they'll harden and no longer be as circular as they are. If you do leave your car up, they make special rubber pads that will help prevent that. You just jack up the car and stick them under the tires and it will help to some extent.
Still, cars should be driven (in my view). They should be appreciated for what they are and for the periods of history that they represent.
By today's standards, the 'Vette has shitty handling, is unsafe, and is not very powerful. You can buy a minivan that has better performance characteristics.
But, in 1958, she was one of the finest automobiles you could buy. She was also relatively inexpensive, meaning horsepower and handling for the masses. She's an icon of an era and deserves to get taken out to play.
However, I'm pretty cautious with her - and similar. If it gets damaged, it's going to be a pain in the ass to get repaired.
Also, if you see someone driving something like this, it's great that you want to wave and give thumbs up - but could you not drive so close to get a better look? I really, really don't want you 10' off my bumper or slowing down when you pass me with just 2' between our mirrors. That's not cool. I am glad you think it's awesome, but save the getting close bit until we're parked or stopped. I'm more than willing to let you look around it, and even climb right in. You don't need to tailgate for two miles and take video/pictures.
hahha i always wave and try to take pics when i see something thay cool...
