I've watched a few different competitions and I can't actually quite figure out how they're scoring them.
We do some drifting (and some things that look like drifting) in rally, but it's generally avoided on a track unless you're showing off and not trying for a good lap time. It does look good and it does require some skill, especially with throttle modulation. It also requires some understanding of the car's balance, which is a good step.
In January, we're going to try to get a full week in over at the rally school. It should be good entertainment and educational.
Well have fun, who knows if things go my way I might actually be able to purchase a toy this year. I'd really like a 1991 240sx with some kind of motor swap. Good balance on those cars, I've owned 2. Probably have to go south or out west to even find one these days.
Rally school would be a hell of a good time. Might have to check it out someday.
Even without school, there's both amateur rallycross and autocross in your area.
I need to get an MX-5, methinks.
I’ve done plenty of autocross in my day. It’s been a number of years but I’m sure I could still find a few to go to in the summer.
I’ll have to dig into rally cross at some point sounds fun.
