The worse thing is, this isn't just incompetence, it is active malevolence. Pretty much all politicians in Australia at the moment are in a running competition to see which one can inflict the most pain and humiliation on their constituents. So many are consumed by fear that this actually makes their purported saviors appear more favorable to them, the more they "punish the evil ones".
