You need fantasies to hold you up, that's how you interact with reality. You do not interact directly with reality you interact with a map of reality. You have made an operational mistake and you didn't even know it. The map is not the territory, as any good cartographer will tell you, occasional surveys must be done to update and keep maps up to date.
