The more I think about it, the more I'm just enabling you to do more of the same. A discussion has a goal of trying to enlighten or invoke new ideas...that's not what you're after. A debate has a goal of open discussion where opinions are viewed and discussed with an end goal in mind. This has dwindled down to neither of those 2. Ad-hominem is an argument against the persons character not the argument they are making. (btw you still haven't answered the banana statement.) Identity politics is making a judgement based on a particularity of their character (race, religion, age, gender, politics, etc)
