I often wonder, if we were to go to another earth like world what are the odds there isn’t someone there already?

I seriously doubt we're the only intelligent life in the universe as huge as it is. But will we even be able to identify it as an intelligent life form ... I doubt it would resemble us. Such things are all just speculation though anyway. WaWhite may have the answer - LOL.

There are very likely many inhabited worlds. Most might only have non-technological sentient creatures like Dolphins and Hans.

Lol, he just might.

I don't know I think odds are if life exists elsewhere in the universe on a planet similar to earth I would think it would end up similar due to similar conditions generally produce similar outcomes. Maybe its just a couple thousand years behind us and thats why we haven't picked up any radio waves yet, but like you said all speculation.

Or, even if they are similar, they may have followed some entirely different path in their development that didn't include radio type communications. Who knows what other things are possible, yet still within the bounds of physics, which we haven't explored.

I'm always open to the possibilities of life similar to our own. But as you said, if they do exist, they are most likely to be in an entirely different phase of their technological development. It's unlikely we'd be at the same place in time, so to speak. There's just too many variable for that to be true.

The odds are quite high that there will be bacteria and viruses that we won't be immune to. The risks are great. People rarely consider compatibility when thinking of living on other earth like worlds.

I would have to imagine at least some people would adapt pretty quickly when European’s came to America they brought the super bugs with them but there wasn’t much in the way of germs that could kill them from what I remember.

Boobs, keep in mind that when Europeans came to America they were still on the same planet, and it raised hell for the natives. A completely different planet, with its own evolutionary path, will likely be quite a bit more stressful on our immune systems. I bet penicillin would work again, on a new planet. So, there's that.
