I'm an amateur astronomer (astrophotographer?), and I catch satellites in frames sometimes. It's not like I can read the serial numbers or anything, but adding another 1600 to his supposed existing 4900 is no minor addition.

I agree. We're losing the skies and there's no solution.

These are slowly going to cook us all

At least we'll be tender and juicy from the low, slow heat.

I was concerned about this too, originally.. They're too close to the earth to reflect sunlight back at night. I presume astronomers will modify their telescope algorithms to account for any brief blockage of whatever they're viewing when they pass overhead.

There's getting to be so much junk up there in orbit, both operational and defunct, that it must be becoming a serious threat to ground bases astronomy. It's actually kind of sad, one day we, or more likely our kids, grand kids, may not even be able to see the beauty that is the sky above ourselves. At least not as we knew it.

Damn, Musk doesn't half ass shit. I like how they designed them flat so they could pack them in and kept them small so they have less launches to deploy them all.
