I think the admins learned from the early days of Voat and have worked very hard to avoid similar pitfalls.

One thing I think voat did (and still does wrong) is focus too much on technical aspects and features. Burying their head in the sand to flesh out the new thing that no one asked for, while being pretty much hands off what actually is going on on the site.

Admins here are quick to respond to bugs / feature requests, actively pursue adding things they think the site needs, but balance that with being active users themselves and active in shaping the culture they want Poal to be.

I see this too. Admins are daily users that make and fix stuff as it happens. We get to play with stuff that sometimes still has bugs, but then gets changed along the way after some community input.
