This thought occurred to me the other day, and poal is about the only place worth bringing it up.

Now blacks are very likely to end up in jail, or a gang, or with a brood of kids / no father, living off welfare etc.

Then they worked hard, sometimes beaten / abused, fed well, families were mostly complete. Stable environment.

I just thought damn, except for the whippings, rape (probably?) and lack of freedom, they really had it much better as slaves. Didn't need to worry about being killed by gangs / random crime, food was a given, health care a given and on and on.

What are your thoughts poal?

Slavery is not an option but there are many examples where people in former colonies lament the loss of their old 'masters'. There's even an article or two by african authors calling for re-colonisation to be found.
