I've seen a couple of posts on these, thank you @level_101 and @stupidbird.

Is anyone here actively using either of these systems? Do you have repeaters setup?

I've looked into both networks in both of my areas of operation, Mt Rainier WA area and Lake Fork TX area. Meshcore has more nodes "closer" to me in WA but neither has any real presance around Lake Fork.

I think these both look pretty interesting, I've watched some jew tube videos and they both have their fans and they both have people who say the other one sucks.

Looking for real world experience if you actually using one or both of these systems.

My friends and I have settled on Meshtastic. A very useful purpose is a blue force tracker when doing goon shit, you can see where friendlies are just like you can in a video game. Not useful if you have to operate under EMCON though.

If you can see your friends and they can see you, can't the bad guys and the cops and everyone else see you too?

Your Meshtastic node can operate on different meshes. The one we use has a PSK so only people we give the key to, can access the detailed Meshtastic data. When I enable the public meshes, I set the node to obfuscate its location for privacy.

The nodes broadcast like crazy though, anyone with ESM capability can definitely figure out where the node is with little effort. Hence my comment about EMCON.

That's what I was thinking. So I don't really want to set up the node on my property.
