When the whole id shit went down I did some pen testing. A fun forum that requires (had to search for one), must upload id takes seconds. New tab, search for Texas example id, saved. Back to verification, uploaded. Worked. Hmmm ok so verification is likely no more than can I find date before today minus 18 years? Check.
Now we have seen that in some cases TOS violations are prosecutable. But in reality no kids are smart enough to do that to get into a website. “Ohh let’s add credit card verification” Every parent I know their kid has a credit card and I don’t know that there is some magic imbedded age trigger.
So yeah, it’s about control and tracking.
As most of it is circumventable in less then a minute.
Side note as I remember, my id I downloaded (example) was a brave black woman.
