I had a relative that used a baby doll to replace an infant that died at 6 months. Til the day she died, that doll was 'her baby' and had to be kept clean, all 40 years after the infant died.

it was even in her will to have it burred with her, in its own casket. Thankfully the will did not specify the condition of the doll when it was buried. Needless to say it did end up in the casket, but we made sure to 'cremate the doll' first.
