Get a whole house surge protector that goes in your panel. Nothing is 100% but alot of the good ones come with a guarantee that if it doesn't work they pay for the repairs. Many times these become a sacrificial part because lightning is fucking powerful. But a non direct strike can be shunted to ground through them and they live through it to protect again.
Surge strips are crap. But if you have to get one, look for the highest joule rating.
