My wife is type A blood. That seems to work keeping them off me.
I use a fan. I've found they aren't as active if there's a nice stiff breeze.
Mint sprays helps too.
Deet on exposed skin, wash clothes in peppermint soap before permethrin sprayed and dried. A good boonie hat with a net, I like the Colombia fisherman's line of shirts and pants, but go up a half size.
If you are out with a heavy mosqito area avoid eating banana's, I makes your sweat smell tasty to them so no banana's is what I was told as a kid.
Not really a huge fan of them but that's good advice.
I lay my clothing out and spray it with the deet. I put it on when its dry. I also use some peppermint oil diluted in water.
I didn't know they didn't like peppermint oil.
So says the wife. It does seem to help.
I use peppermint oil to throw off mice around my camper van. The jury still out if it's really effective or not
You could consider permethrin for treating your clothing, but they will still bite your exposed skin.
This is true. I mean I'll usually wear a bug net over my face if I'm an area where they're super thick. I've been in Canada all summer and honestly I can tell you the mosquitoes never bothered me at all. I mostly got chewed up by the noseeums.
