What are your thoughts?

I have some problems with this for my own reasons. Ill start out. Lets ignore the "I want to help people" part for this, you do you.

  1. If I opt-in for organ donation, why does a company get to make tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on it. Why can I not require this to be done at-cost or allow my family to get some of the $$$ paid for my organs.

  2. Same argument for blood. I have a uncommon (but not rare) blood type. Why do you get to make a bunch of money off this? If I want to donate I want it done for free or at cost. If you profit from it, I should too.

I feel like every other month the local medical establishment calls for blood donations because they are at "critical levels". Then I read that companies that take donations make a LOT of money off of what you donate to someone else for "free" (who then are charged a stupid amount of money). If I donated it, Other than cost of transport, storage, administration, it should be free. (In my mind) but they charge so much for it that a HUGE amount of blood donated in America is sold all over the damn place. It's a fucking scam.

I am all for doing this out of the goodness of your heart. I just hate seeing that a company can profit off of it where I wanted to do something selfless and for the benefit for someone else with no expectation of anything. This is why I would want to be able to check a box saying "this donation must be at-cost and no more". I know that can still be abused and they will find loopholes. I just don't go out of my way to make some company money off of my labor/blood/etc. (Giving blood is still labor, you have to take time out of your life to do so).

Well, what do you think? If you are in the industry and can point out that I am wrong and don't know what I am talking about, please post some sources. I would appreciate it.

I donate blood monthly. It's a lead by example, golden rule thing for me, but actually very selfish, though not for money.

I have kids, I want there to be blood available if they ever need it. So I want others to donate, but I can't expect others to do something I'm not doing. And maybe me doing it can inspire or at least shame others into doing it, so I do it.

100% because I want me and those I care about to have blood if they ever need it. Everyone else can fuck off, generally. After they donate blood.

It's also funny to watch gay male nurses at intake ask if you've ever had gay sex, since it would disqualify you from donating if you did, so they know their own blood is considered tainted for life and unworthy of even being considered. Haha.

The rules about gay-sex and blood donation at least in most of the country (USA) are gone and have been for at least a year or two now. There was a period of time that Red Cross would not take Vaxed blood too, that is interesting right there.

There are private services to allow you to "bank" your own blood if it is needed for some reason. That is probably outside of most peoples reach (I have never looked at prices, probably could not afford it anyway).

Also, there is a strange gray area now with the tranny shit because "no I am a woman, I have never had gay sex" (as a man that has gay sex but thinks they are a woman and the med industry agrees).

They still ask me the questions. I've never said yes, so maybe it doesn't change the outcome? The trans thing i hadn't considered but I have a crazy feeling not too many of them donate, they're too self involved and mentally ill to do normal people things.

The personal blood banking...that's a good thought.

Oh, the trans thing is like the gay thing. They probably have a kink on thinking that "normal" people are being injected with their poison blood. I would bet most of them that are able to donate. They probably get off on it.
