I'm thinking of installing permanent decorative lightning around the perimeter of my house roof line. It would be usable for other holidays, 4th of July and whatnot... I've never done anything like this before, does anyone have experience with this? Is it a good idea or a bad idea? Any input would be appreciated.

This seems like the right idea. You don’t want it to be noticeable until it’s on at night.
