I'm thinking of installing permanent decorative lightning around the perimeter of my house roof line. It would be usable for other holidays, 4th of July and whatnot... I've never done anything like this before, does anyone have experience with this? Is it a good idea or a bad idea? Any input would be appreciated.

I can do the installation of the lights and do a clean enough job. It's the controllers and programs that make me think twice, though I have been reading there are controllers that are easy to set up and use. It's gonna be fun.
