You can get an antenna with an HDMI output. Works just as good on a dumb monitor as a TV.

Nice I wasnt aware of these. Do they include the tuner logic to provide an image to the monitor? No tuner style circuitry on the monitor to select from the signals.

Yep, just get one that comes with a converter box. It's another remote to deal with, but not the end of the world.
I haven't purchased in years, but I've got one somewhere. It was pretty low tech, didn't need internet or anything.
