I've heard that having a consistent bedtime is beneficial. I think it makes sense that your body's hormonal cycle, while capable of adapting to change, might optimize itself under predictable circumstances.

That being said, I'm terrible about going to bed at a specific time. Thoughts?

Sleep when sleepy, allow yourself to awaken with the sunlight. Use blue block on your computer screen (like f.lux) in the evening, no coffee/caffeine after 4pm, no naps during the day, let your body tell you how much and when to sleep.

I ditched alarms almost ten years or more ago and don't miss the screech beeping alarm that is like a warning for a video game monster on boss level with a nuclear bomb count down.

I'm violating that to the extreme my dude. I suspect that many of my habits are detrimental to my wellbeing.
