No new cars not paid for in cash?
My last new vehicle purchase - 2007 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Duramax Diesel Truck loaded, bought new in 2007 - cash. Latest vehicle purchase was a 2009 Toyoya Tacoma ExtraCab 4x4 V6 6spd bought used a couple years ago - cash. No more new cars for me. I played that game all of my working life, new truck every 4-5 years only to run the miles up commuting to/from work while the rust ate away at them.
I'm nearing my mid 60s now, been retired almost 20 years. How time flys. I hope the next 20 last a bit longer.
Yes indeed.
And more ... I pay off my credit cards every month, have been for the past ~30 years. I've never collected unemployment or any type of financial assistance. Didn't sign onto Obummercare, have been self insured almost 20 years. I'll be on Medicare and collecting Social Security soon, so I made it through almost 20 years with no income other than selling some of my properties off and receiving long term gains treatment on the profit.
I have never took any assistance either, and have never had health insurance. No ss or medicare coming either.
I could wait on the SS but I might as well take it while it's solvent. I paid for it.
If my real estate venture had failed and wiped me out, I'd most likely be in a totally different situation. It was life changing.
Yeah, I think never having collected unemployment or other assistance is getting rarer by the year and if you're of conservative temperament, something to be proud of and very thankful for.
