So this is new for me since I moved last year. I drive down then up a mountain to buy my summertime tucking swimsuits from the big box stores.

Off the top of my head, I’d estimate 65% of drivers blind me at night. I don’t even turn my brights on to see, and I’m sure I don’t have the best night vision. We have deer, bears, rabbits, possum, etc, but at 55 mph, I don’t think my brights would help much anyway.

So, are these people just saying fuck everyone else, or is it genuine forgetfulness?

I think newer cars just fucking suck, either their low beams blind drivers always, or they automatically turn high-beam on in the wrong situations (and provide no way for the driver to disable it). There's a whole Reddit sub devoted to this, r/fuckyourheadlights/ .

Oh that’s interesting. I don’t have a new vehicle but it does have some features. I’d say thankfully auto brights is not one of them. I didn’t even know that was a thing.

Auto brights turn off at the slightest hint of oncoming traffic. My truck lights are stock and the low beams hurt. People flash me all the time but it's the low beams. My truck is bone stock brand new.
