Monoatomic? That's just another word for gas. The boiling point of gold is 5378 °F. If your gold isn't that hot, it isn't monoatomic.

Pure metal cold welds together. You couldn't possibly keep the gold atoms apart.

Gold doesn't react much, it is like a noble gas in that way. Therefore, gold in your body isn't going to do much of anything.
