I am making a surprise gift to my sons soccer team. We hired someone to make us slides for the boys and I need the soccer team logo printed on them. However, I have to send him a vector file of the image I need printed. How in the world do I do this? Thank You!

Do what vastrightwing said. Inkscape for the win. Import image. Then trace bitmap. Easy

I think a basic web search will turn up lots of sites that are free that take an image and turn it into a vector file.

Thank you for your adivce. I tried everything from such searches and the image always became distorted. Asking here was my last resort.

Depends on the source image how well it will vectorize. If it’s high contrast with not a lot of details it will vectorize well. If it’s something like a photo with lots of detail it won’t vectorize as well automatically. The free online tools are hit and miss and will do some funky things some times. I would use adobe illustrator to do it. If you upload the file I can do for it you.
