Listen to some old English. Shit will fuck up your perception of English. It's also why time travelers would just get killed pretty much on the spot if they went back far enough.

Yeah, my issue was something like that - in some sense the same - but broadly was more like I thought there was at least one more vowel before the r. My guesses as to what that was no doubt had some variation but yours was one of the top ones.
