100 million drivers speed everyday. The odds of the speeding, itself, causing an accident is pretty low.

Cell phones in cars are much more dangerous.

And.. of course... the government isn't looking to make you safe, it's looking to make money off of you.

If the government cared even a tiny little bit about its citizens safety, maybe I'd change my tune on speeding. But, as it stands, most of it is about trampling your rights and making you feel okay about it.

The problem is speed limits do not make sense in a lot of areas. 80 mph on a clear day traveling on a lightly trafficed highway should not be speeding.

The same road with weather conditions and traffic then 60 mph might be too fast.
