Got this just a bit ago:

"Hi stupidbird, this is Anna with jobrecruiter. I found your resume on ziprecruiter and I'd like to call you about a low-rent job that's so far below your skill level that it's not going to pay anywhere near what you're making. What's a good time to call?"

My reply:

"Hi Anna, I don't have a resume on ziprecruiter, if there's one there it's been placed without my permission. Can you send me a link?"

No reply of course, and I haven't used that email address in about two years due to it being in one of the many, many LinkedIn breaches. Why would you start out a contact with a direct lie? I realize it's a template but still. It makes you look really bad and lazy and I certainly don't want to speak with you.

They make money only if you take their job. There are no laws or consequences for them if they lie to you and screw you over beyond you leaving said job which only means they don't keep getting a cut of your hourly. The lower they get you to take the job for the more that they pocket an hour for your time. The company pays the job shop the same no matter what.

I know that, but they're lying to me about my profile. I've had plenty that lied about the jobs, but it seems more commonplace now to make up stuff about the candidate before you even talk to them.

I did contracting for a long, long time and it seems to me that the main trait required to be a recruiter is compulsive lying. The type who simply lies about anything and everything if they thinks it gives them an advantage somehow. Really, it is just like a dog barking, a duck quacking, or a jew molesting babies. It's just what you can expect them to do.

It is. It's just tiresome at times. I'd give them a polite "No thank you" if they'd have contacted me in a more civilized manner.
