Read jewish professor Norman Finkelstein's book 'The Holocaust Industry' He pegs it to the 1967 6 day war in Israel and they were trying to pump up the propaganda and sympathy for the jews. After that a flood of non camp jews went and got tats so they could get reparation money. Many didn't even get the tat.
The people I knew didn't get tats for reparation money, lol.
