just an aside, my dog regularly catches squirrels, snaps their necks and starts crunching the skull, if left at it she'd eat the whole thing. She seems to know what to do.
OMG My cat does that to bunnies. 19 so far this summer. I wish he'd go after squirrels. I just wish he didn't drag them into the house first.
The dog is after everything that comes into the yard, squirrels, rats, mice, gophers, pigeons, blue jays, no rabbits, yet. Luckily she does not bring them into the house, She is quite loud generally but if she has been quiet for 20 minutes, likely she caught herself a snack.
Does your dog actually CATCH squirrels? They are notorious for taunting and teasing, then zipping up a tree out of reach. Annoying little bottle-brush tail rats that deserve to be taught a lesson.
Truly domesticated dogs then, not your farm animals.
What breed dog does that?
Anatolian Shepard, protective breed, the sheep herders would leave them with the flock and they will find their own food.
