I know a decent amount. Took classes in high school. Picked up pimsleur discs, have some bilingual poetry - more in the European vein like Jorge Luis Borges... Seems they're pushing more ways different than that, besides immersion, but suppose I have a basis in fundamentals. Would be cool to be fluent, or read don quixote, or party with the cartel. Suggestions? May start with method of 1000 most popular Spanish words

Best way is to find a latina wife or girlfriend and just talk to her in Spanish.

I don't wanna procreate besides anal and getting pastelillos

Well, I was only looking at language learning. Other factors can make it untenable.

Those are precedents, procreation is the factor - therefore I learn the language, with pastelillos, etc

Better off learning Russian the way things are going.

Classes are the way to go, forget Duolingo and other online crap, it's a language, you will learn it best by speaking to your classmates.

I just read a comment of a Russian learning English and Spanish

You mean Mexican not Spanish. That's the first lesson. Use it is how. Go to where they speak it, and don't use English, they will be helpful because it's the opposite of the asshole American like me. I grew up at the border and been in Mexico many times, I make them speak English to me. Just gotta know enough spanglish to know when they are talking shit about you, which is most of the time.

Que?

Total immersion, move to Mexico...

Had a great time there in 08. Also find Mexicans/south Americans are very easy to work with besides language barrier. Only one Mexican born on my job now, but he's half Irish too, so speaks good English

"Move to Mexico" Or just hang out in a Home Depot parking lot.

There are many ways, what is best for one person may not be best for another, IMHO. I've recently been trying to improve my own Spanish using this site --It's free, but they have a paid 'premium' version:

100% the pimsleur audio course is the best way, even better than immersion (I've done both). It's based on a method that they used to use to teach diplomats as fast as possible.

Not sure if I still have discs

Pimsleur is garbage for learning a language. Make a friend who is a native speaker of the language you want to learn, and ban yourself from using English with them. Get them to describe stuff in their language, and over time you'll learn more and more. It's how I learned my husband's native language.

Go stand outside of Home Depot and talk to the Mexicans there looking for work.

I know some who do that for cheap labor

Find a Spanish girlfriend. They are often very beautiful but extremely temperamental. If you can survive the experience you might decide you are better off with another language.

All the people here suggesting miscegenation as a means to help you learn Spanish are wrong. Find a Spanish teacher and stick with it.

Can I fuck the Spanish teacher

Years ago I dated an Ecuadorian girl who was half native and half French. Apparently Ecuador was owned by the French at one point. I don't know when that point was but. She was exotically pretty but a little malnourished and a raging alcoholic which was kind of a turnoff.
