There are a lot of "locally-grown" movements around but still a lot of mystery about where the food went after harvest.

I take time to check that I'm buying local and I'll pay more for it if I have to.

If I'm in a supermarket and it doesn't say were produced is from on any of the packages, I will only buy it I REALLY need it for something.

Where I am at at least you can buy beef from local ranches. They'll even ship it. But other products, not so much.

Doesn't matter because I assume what's printed on a label or told to me by a salesperson is a bald-faced lie. Even if I did believe them, where it came from doesn't tell me anything I want to know about it. Things like do they use Round-Up, insecticides, or other shit? Do they treat their animals humanely?

You have to find shops that you trust and use them exclusively because there are too many scams. My local market is all Asians and I think they just buy the excess that was rejected by the supermarket and sell it on to naive people who think they're haggling.

I'd prefer to buy from local farms, but that isn't an option sadly. Even though it will be much greener than going to various stores.

I am now getting most of my meat from a local rancher that actually delivers to my house every two weeks. And he and his wife are great people.

Self sufficiency is best. Minimise purchasing food. Grow your own. Raise your own animals.

I do what I can.

Rule 1: Never, ever eat processed food manufactured by a (((corporation))).

Thing I am finding is a lot of the "organic" products are not so different than the processed products

Very. If someone doesn't want me to know where my food came from, it's reasonable to assume they think that knowledge will prove detrimental to their business interests.
