don't typically have personal ones - last one was last year with my pop after Gran died. He was cavalier about it and talking shit and I had to remind him, most furiously, that our job when our family dies is to pick up the pieces and see 'em through. (yes, my wife and i paid for everything)
academically, I am in it currently, arguing with a PhD that clearly has to have the 'final word' and I believe that is the antithesis of a [good] educator - I learned long ago that a PhD doesn't mean they aint dumber than a bag of hammers. we shall see if I need to escalate to the chair.
At work - just last week. i had an issue with travel, so I plainly said 'I will not go and I am prepared to exit for my decision.' All I got was a sideways chuckle and an 'ill think about it.' tomorrow may be different but for all last week up to today - there has been no change and I don't think there will be, unless it's on my terms. (by the way, travel would've started tomorrow).
