Don't rely on door locks too much to keep you safe, most can be snapped/pulled. If you want to be safe while inside your home install old school bolts on all doors.

Some people don't want to spend more for an extra component. I don't believe in dead bolts because all it does is ensure your door jam is torn apart when someone breaks in.
A regular door lock is good enough to prevent a casual thief. Someone who wants to break down your door will do it and completely destroy your door jam in the process.
