I was reading about a Sega Genesis compiler and they have the word "BasiEgaXorz" highlighted with black. I'm not sure if the background color is contributing to the effect, but the black boxes look like they are 3D. Just wondering if anyone else can see it.

They don't look 3D to me either.

They look flat to me. Must be a contrast related illusion.

That's the satanic black box of Saturn

You're not crazy, I see it. It's an illusion like dampcat said. Happens to me sometimes on the command line or in text editors when I have high contrast color preferences.

I can only see the 3d if I have glasses on.

Your monitor must be doing some weird shit to it, flat to me also.

No 3D. All the text on that page (including the black background around "BasiEgaXorz") has a shadow. Probably using the text-shadow property in the CSS for the page. It makes the edges of the black background more diffuse and visually implies depth.
