Bikes are nice. Fun to ride. Nice when the weather is nice. But, I'm suspect of anyone who wraps their identity around a "culture".

Sports culture, black culture, gay culture, furry culture, rodeo culture, cowboy culture, bike culture, foodie culture, jeep culture, etc.

Just be you and stop trying to 'fit in' ... it's kinda gay.

I do loudly yell "faggot" every time I see a Harley rider. Sadly, they can't hear me over their loud bikes. (Gotta love South Par and their take on the Harley faggots.)

I think motorcycles are cool. I wouldn't mind owning a Husqvarna Svartpilen.

I am not a fan of the hard-core motorcycle culture guys. You know, the ones that have tattoos all over or have other drug or alcohol problems. It seems like somewhere around half of the people I've met that drive a bike frequently are like that. I can get along with them pretty well and I'm buddies with a old guy who is pretty into motorcycle rallies and stuff, but at the same time I wish they would clean up a bit. It just ain't White to be all trashy and tatted up.

I’ve ridden motorcycles as my primary commute vehicle for about 25 years now. Doing so has saved me a lot of money and immense amounts of time. Had a few close calls but never a catastrophe and had a ton of fun doing it.

Motorcycles aren’t for everybody, but they’re awesome transport and if you know what you’re doing, they can save you money.

What do you mean by motorcycle culture exactly? Each type of motorcycle has it's own kind of culture surrounding it and they don't always intermingle.

Sport bike riders and cruiser riders couldn't be more different. Dirt bike riders are completely different than street riders. Some people ride strictly for transportation. Some people are way into rebuilding old bikes. Some people like bar hopping, going to meetups and group rides. Some guys like riding solo.

Just like pretty much everything if you really dig down into motorcycles you'll find it's much more nuanced than you think.

If you're looking for a hobby it's as good as any.

They can be fun. They can also be deadly. When riding on the street it's not your skills you need to worry about, it's all those other assholes who can't drive.

Car vs motorcycle, the car wins virtually every single time. The only time the person in the car draws the match up is when the motorcycle T-bones it at over 60. Like when some old fuck pulls out in front of you without even looking.

Wear your gear! It doesn't take much and your crippled for life.

Riding a bike makes you aware of a lot of things you don't even think about in a car -- cracks in the pavement, grease spots on the exit ramps, dogs charging out at you from the side of the street, the angle of railroad tracks you are about to cross. If people think driving a car is hard, they should try riding a motorcycle. Every curve tries to pull you into the ditch. I've seen riders with decades of experience wander off the highway into the weeds on curves, because their attentions faltered for a few seconds. You have to stay aware all the time.

I had a big Harley when I was single.

Sold it when my first kid was born.

Miss it and will ride again when I can afford it. Always rode solo. Not really interested in cruising with others. Like going my own way.
