I was definitely a victim of propaganda as a kid, and held ridiculous opinions. Thankfully, it was long enough ago that I wasn't as retarded as most these days. I also lived a pretty reprehensible lifestyle, before I found Christ. You've got to accept though, that you're forgiven for your mistakes if you truly change. I know God forgives me, but I have a hard time forgiving myself most times. Yesterday is history, and tomorrow's a mystery. Today is a gift; that's why it's called the present.
