If you Dremel the nails no they have no sharpness or excessive length, and it isn't soft leather, and your dog isn't a spaz running around the house, sure.

Second this. Definitely get a blanket for the side pup likes to lay on. There are dog blankets that are furry (also looks cool on leather depending on color) and your dog will want to lounge on that instead of the leather.
