A dog? A dirty animal eating cat shit any chance it gets, then throwing it up in the living room for you to clean up. The best part, while you are doing that, it's destroying something else of yours. Not properly trained you say? Get a family and raise a child. Everyone who has animals lives like a nigger. Fuck that.
Dogs make a good companion for a child. If you get a good breed or a mix of good breeds and train it well your child is actually more safe if you ever do accidentally leave them unattended with the dog. Smart dogs have good instincts about traffic, water, strangers, snakes, boars, and children.
If I'm relying on a dog to watch my child, I've failed already.
Yes, and you will occasionally. But if you have a good dog you haven't failed as bad. My dogs look after my ducks. The only time I've ever lost ducks was when I had the dog inside. The ducks steal the dogs' food and do other things they should get teeth for but these dogs being a herding mix will spook yet never actually attack the ducks. If the dogs wanted to they could kill every duck like they do stray cats and squirrels. They chase foreign birds like they're trying to kill them too, they're just not successful. This is normal dog behavior. Most dogs go their whole life only guarding and killing what they're supposed to. Kids can be more aggravating to a dog than a duck and you have to watch that of course. But in almost all cases the dog will protect the child like they would livestock and puppies. This is an asset. I've accidentally left a kid out of sight and when I returned the dog had taken up a position nearby, just watching. I've also observed my dogs pulling puppies back from the road, something I haven't been a poor enough parent yet to observe with a toddler.

I'm not angry, but people who have dogs inside usually live in a disgusting house. If the house isn't disgusting, then you probably spend over an hour and a half a day cleaning, neither of which seem enjoyable.
My house is immaculate. I also do clean it fully every single morning as part of my routine. I on the other hand enjoy that process and I will except nothing less than a very clean home. If a person does maintain a quick daily cleaning routine its very easy to keep a very clean home. Things never get out of order.
