>the competency bar you need to clear is lower.
What?
You're going to tell me it takes more competency to say "buttsex yes" than to commit a federal crime such as computer crime or carjacking?
I don't think so
> In the United States the age varies between states, being as low as 6 years in South Carolina and 7 years in 35 states; 11 years is the minimum age for federal crimes.[citation needed]
Let me put it another way:
Q: "Should I rob a gas station?" A: No.
Q: "Should I have sex with X person?" A: It depends.
Answering "should I commit a violent crime" takes less mental and psychological development because the answer is "no". For sex, it gets a lot murkier depending where you are on the 18-80 age spectrum.
the 18-80 age spectrum.
Irrelevant then
You're specifically talking about adults here, not kids
Kids between 12 and below can't appreciate the full consequences of their actions, criminal or otherwise. They literally believe in santa
Oh, I'm definitely not suggesting lowering the age of consent below 18. Just discussing why legal criminal responsibility kicks in at a younger age.
If kids believe in Santa, either their parents are lying to them or they're retarded or both.
