It is my understanding that not only (in a live birth) the placenta tissue is sold, but also the (ahem) "byproducts" of abortion. They could possibly separate out stem cells if not more. In the case of the "partial birth" abortion, the skull is partially birthed in order to access the brain, which is destroyed, then the rest of the fetus is delivered. Not sure if it's intact at that point.
Oh in both cases, the opportunity to harvest "free medical research material" certainly represents a mini gold mine from a medical and financial standpoint
