Nobody seems to give a shit about that and most people believe that representative democracies are the exact same thing. Every time I’ve ever mentioned the fact that we’re a republic people roll their eyes and quickly dismiss it as “that old silly argument”. It’s amazing because none of them can really tell me the difference between republics and democracies and if there is no difference why do we have different words for them?
