They've convinced themselves the reason they're poor and you're not is because you "took" that money from the poor people somehow. So that makes it "good" for them to take that money from you and give it back to the "rightful" owner. They can't articulate exactly how you took it, but they just know you did somehow. The means and methods in their explanations usually involve some sort of "privilege" and "institutional racism."
