I dont know, im still on the fence on this one. On one hand I like the idea of having someone to talk to, on the other hand the absolute last time I soke (Im hoping that's the right word, I don't know if it's seeked or soke) counseling they labelled me as depressed and suicidal. I know I'm not suicidal, and I know I'm depressed, but it feels like even though I'm hurting inside, I don't want to get labelled by the deep state players as some kind of hermit unworthy of having guns, etc. I don't live in a red flag state, but who knows when those laws will start to change.

Beyond this, they made me do this atrocious EMDR bullshit last time I went(years ago), and it didn't really help. I'm assuming EMDR is some kind of Israeli torture technique that was re-labelled as beneficial because kikes have nothing better to do than to promote the good as the bad, and the bad as the good. For those who don't know, EMDR is a technique that's very popular these days (a little TOO popular by my taste), whereby you tell the counselor what happened and they repeat it back to you over and over again. So if you lost a child, you would tell them the events that happened, and they would replay them back to you. Then they added some buzzers and shit to make it look more official. Ironically I didn't drink before this, but afterwards, I was chugging whisky on the daily. I don't know, my brain just completely gave up on itself.

So now I'm wondering if there's a point to counseling at all, or if its just a complete waste

In theory, seeking counseling is a good idea. In a practical sense, absolutely not.

Most therapists are malicious Communists. If you doubt that, ask yourself what percentage of therapists are going to tell you the truth and provide advice on what you can change in your actions to improve your life based on quantifiable data rather than "muy feels" and "have some pills". Also ask yourself what percent of psych majors are left wing wackjobs (basically all of them).

Additionally, psychiatric counseling will be used by Communists to encroach upon your right to self-defense.

100% correct. Do not trust them ever.

Which is really unfortunate, because in theory you'd have someone like Jordan Peterson or Stefan Molyneux providing truthful advice on the assholes in your life, calling you out on your own bullhit, and providing an independent viewpoint on why clown world and the NPCs in it traumatized you. Instead you'll get a bloody neo-Marxist pushing psych meds on you because clown world is somehow your fault.

Can't say.

You quit drinking and start working out first? Spend time outside as well.

As opposed to suffering on your own? No. Recognizing you have a need and paying for a service to fulfill it is normal.

It is weakness. But sometimes we're weak. Kind of like athletes taking personal days. It's not entirely unreasonable but it takes away from their overall legacy if they're unable to perform.

I find any form of counseling based in Freudian/Frankfort School adjacent psychotherapy/psychoanalysis to be intolerably inked with Talmudic principles and as such I reject it. I have found more help in reading the Bible or reading about stoicism and in having clear goals, both here on earth and eternally.

What he said. Counseling is over rated. It’s just another dude nodding and making um hum noises. You need to make peace with yourself and with god. Lucky for you, god just wants you to make peace with yourself. You made mistakes? Don’t do it again, god loves you. Forgive yourself and love god. No codes, no creeds, just love god. You cannot and will, not be evil if love is in your heart. Even if you quietly go about your life.

You want truth? Start going to a church. Something Southern Baptist or something. After awhile talk to the Pastor. They are great for this stuff and they dont talk to the govt. Best of all, no matter what anyone tells you, God is real. I promise you that. Once you start working with God daily, alone, and let him have your worries, you will see the glory that is the Lord thy God.

Some may laugh and I pray for them. I also pray for the many so called Christians that are just going thru motions.

Its not easy as it sounds but once I give my worries over to God they get resolved. Trust in God.

Sometimes a sounding board is all you need. Sometimes, just a little wisdom from a different perspective does the trick. Now... if you're going every week because you need a life coach or you want to effectively psychoanalyze your relationships... that's different.

I'll help you even if you don't want me to

NIggerhater, I don't know what your past history is so here's something. Try to live simple if its too complicated. I don't know what this EMDR bullshit is, or if its PTSD related, but maybe you should see another counselor? I don't know what your financial situation is. Sounds like you can afford whiskey. Cut the booze, find something you want to enjoy doing? Start a new adventure, some people like going horseback or dirtbike riding, get out of that blue state, find somewhere rural or go out in the woods, its good medicine. Work out and find something to accomplish? What did you dream of doing as a young man? Seriously, there's not a lot of time left on this earth to do what you always wanted to do. Join a church, you have a purpose, its just not revealed to you yet until you reveal it yourself. There is nothing weak about getting help. In this age, many are glued to social media for interaction but its a false direction. You have to at least attempt to socialize and be with the right people or significant other.

Go to the gym bro. If you’re not already. Go to the gym, and whip your own ass. Don’t leave the gym till you’re so exhausted that you’ll only wAnna go lay down and you’ll sleep hard. Do that over and over as many days as you can a week and see if that helps. That’s what I did, I was legitimately suicidal. Therapists said drugs I said fuck drugs. Drugs and booze don’t help. Therapy might but try exercise: it’s a solution that did more for me that I can put into words and it’s never ever mentioned by anyone as a solution. It’s not common sense. I swear to god though it’s the best thing ever. It just clears up so much bullshit in your head. Even when you’re at the gym or running or whatever: you’re straining and hurting and you don’t have time to think about bulllshit

It's a bad replacement for seeking advice from a strong and wise father or mentor. Shame many do not have those and so these (((psychologists))) took the opportunity to step in and charge $150/hr to brainwash us.

Can you imagine a good father deciding to do that EMDR bullshit to his son? Like others have said something like a church, mentor or even an AA sponsor would be better than these counselors.
