I fucking hate these alerts. They happen about once a month in my area and they're fucking annoying. I had to disable them on all my phones - even my old phones that aren't connected to any service provider go off.

I understand that missing children is a big deal, but don't annoy the fuck out of the public with these alerts because the police can't fucking properly do their jobs.

I pay attention to them to make sure I don't happen to be driving the same make/model/color vehicle they're looking for.

If you have a Samsung phone you can disable all the alerts. Get the free Android Messages app from the store and make it the default messages app. Revoke all permissions and block notifications from the original app. This worked on my S10 to get rid of the doom siren at 2 am for the missing children hundreds of kilometres away.

I usually assume it's the state trying to kidnap a child from their own parents. Usually it's one of the parents, a 'non-custodial parent', who is wanted in those Amber Alerts. Not always, some kids are taken from their parents. If the Amber Alert is about a non-custodial parent I'm gonna mind my own business...

This is my biggest complaint. This system should be used for actual abductions, not when a parent who loves and cares for their child panics and runs off with them.

Amber alerts exist to tell police that there is a pedophile delivery in progress and to stay away from said vehicle.

Me and a group of about 8 friends when ever there is an amber alert we get in our cars and drive around town going about 110 MPH and yell out the windows for the missing person. We run lights and honk and have our own fake police lights and sirens we go wild as long as possible just trying our darndest to save these people that lost abducted what ever. We have not found anyone yet but we will keep trying

Calm down. It's a loud chime for 2 seconds until you hit any button. Oh no. The benefit far outweighs the cost. This complaint is like what the tests for.

The piece of trash is the person who took the child in the first place.

And they should consider using a different sound tone instead of the red alert 'death is coming' time of tone,.especially when 95% of them are the parents fault.

Two seconds to hit a button is too much when you're trying to sleep or get anything done.
