Apparently there is a difference between the police and sheriff.

Police are run by a union under the control of the mayor. Police officials are not elected and thus not held to a high level of accountability and likely don't give a shit about the constitution and upholding the peoples rights.

Sheriff officials are elected and they do, generally speaking should uphold the constitution. You should back your local sheriffs.

What kind of power does a sheriff have over police?

I don't know the specifics but to keep it short, Sheriffs have jurisdiction in the county. Police jurisdiction are to the city/town limits.

I just saw a video that a Sheriff stated they're elected, which indicates that all deputies are elected and beholden to the public.

There is still going to be corruption in Sheriff department but hopefully less of it and they can be easily removed in theory.

A sheriff works for the county as the executive arm of the county courts. Cops work for the city. A sheriff can act on court orders such as eviction, cops cannot.

They just go ahead and make the arrest and then turn it over to the unjustice system. Probably even get some easy overtime in court. After all they do have qualified immunity.

Local PDs are government sanctioned gangs. That's how. If things worked the way they're supposed to, we wouldn't need thousands of police. The influx of foreign cultures and people that won't assimilate got us here. If we had our 2A freedoms back and didn't have such steep budget demands because of a bloated bureaucracy, we wouldn't need a whole lot more than a local Sheriff with units under his sole command than then local NG stationed around big cities.

You wouldn't believe how easy it is to bribe local PDs... It's much more common than you think.
